Hi everyone,
The Saturday Irvine road ride is alive and well again.... Starting tomorrow (6/20) we will be leaving from the Irvine Rock N' Road at 8am every Sat. The same route as earlier this year will be done this Sat and we might change it up going forward. This is a tempo/recovery ride with avg speed of 17-19mph with several re-groups lasting no more then a couple of mins each. Refreshments will be served at the store after and additional miles will be added based on participation. We look forward to a big crowd......
If you are a beginner/intermediate mtn bike rider OR if you are just looking for a little easier pace ride between your training rides, check out the Wednesday night rides that John Dang and Matthias Jezek have been putting together. The last three weeks have been at O Neill, Whiting and Aliso Woods. Next week will be at Peter's Canyon and they are planning new rides for all summer long. For more details, check out the team web site blog or email Matthias at: matthias.jezek@mac.com
Caroline has been sending out great race updates for the mtn bike events and congratulations to everyone who went and raced in Colorado Springs last weekend. Rim Nordic series is coming up and if you haven't raced there before, it's a great atmosphere and the team will be supported up there at the events.
Link Lindquist and Greg Kibble competed in the California State Senior Olympics cycling competition a few weeks back in Long Beach's Eldorado Park. The competition was a 5k TT and a 40K RR on Tuesday and a 10k TT and a 20k RR on Wednesday. Link finished in first place in both RR’s and second in both TT’s in the 80 plus category. Greg placed second in the 40k RR in the 65+ and got a Silver Medal. Way to go guys! I don't get very many race results from the road racers on the team so if you race a road event, let me know how you did so I can share the info with the team.
One more thing: the next team apparel order will be here (Rock n' Road Cyclery) on Wednesday for anyone who is waiting for their jersey or other gear. Call the Irvine store Wednesday (6/24) for details.
I am planning a San Diego team road ride sometime in August for those of you that are interested in that. If someone else would like to organize that event, we could probably squeek it in for July but I wouldn't be able to make it. If you are interested in the ride, email me and I will add your name to my list.
