Matthias Jezek
Hello Everybody,
Let me start with 2 Announcements first:
1. Wednesday 08/26 MTB Beginner Ride will be canceled due to the start of the “ OVER THE HUMP MTB Race Series “, which many of our regular riders decided to participate as their first MTB race. For more information, www.overthehumpseries.com. Of course John Dang and myself will be there as well to support and to race.
2. Saturday 10/24, we will have a special ride for everyone at Big Bear Mountain as the “ Season Finale “. More Details will follow …
Now back to the regular programming, LOL:
This Wednesday ride is at El Moro / CrystalCoveState Park. (www.crystalcovestatepark.com).
We will meet at 5:15pm in the parking lot down at PCH, right behind the El Moro School. (El MoroVisitorCenter). The parking fee is a whopping $10! Unless you have a CaliforniaStateParkAnnualPass another option is to park in one of the side roads of PCH in CoronaDel Mar or Laguna Beach and ride about 10min (it’s a good warm up!) to the parking lot.
Roll off is at 5:30pm after a short introduction to safety rules.
While the required riding skill level is still “Beginner”, we do not recommend it for your “first ever” ride. We start with a short warm up through El Moro Canyon, but hit very soon a 1 Mile climb called “I think I can”. This climb is not as steep as Mustard in Whiting Ranch, but certainly longer and definitely you will think about the name all the way to the end. We continue on Moro Ridge and on the top we will ride the very fun single track called “Missing Link”. Going down on “Slow ‘N Easy and return to our starting point of the loop on El Moro Canyon. As an alternative route we will return also via “Rattle Snake”
We have posted the ride on www.geoladders.com as well. (search for “El Moro Easy”).We estimated the ride to be at least 90 Minutes, bring at least 2 bottles of water and some kind of energy food. Also believe it or not, but being so close to the ocean, temperatures are definitely cooler than you are used to.
Please email John Dang (jdang158@gmail.com) or myself for any further questions and to be honest, we would like to know how many people will show up, so a “RSVP” would be nice but not mandatory.
