Hello Everyone,
Our Season Finale at Big Bear, 10/24/2009, is coming closer, only 5 weeks away ! Most of our regulars have meanwhile advanced their skills and fitness, so the planned 18mile loop at 7500 feet above sea level, is going to be a piece of cake ! But don’t worry, this is going to be a ride for EVERYONE, so we will make plenty of stops at a slow pace. ( or split into two groups, with different speeds …)
Also as the days are getting shorter, we really have to start our rides on time to get at least 60-80 Minutes true riding time.
This Wednesday we are going back to one of the most popular mountain bike riding locations in OrangeCounty: WhitingRanchRegionalPark.Meet at 5:15pm in the parking lot in front of the Blockbuster Store at the corner of Bake Parkway and Portola Parkway in Foothill Ranch, CA 92610. Here is a link to a map of Whiting Ranch:
Planning to start the ride at 5:30pm after a short introduction to safety rules. If you are late, you will have to ride by yourself and try to catch us,….unfortunately daylight is “against us “.
We will start all together with the Borrego Trail, which currently will definitely hone your skills for riding in deep sand. Beginners will go directly up Mustard, while of course everyone is invited to get some extra credits with the Cattle Pond Loop. To shake things up, we will NOT stop at 4 Corners (like everyone else), but continue to the top of Dreaded Hill Road. After a well derserved break and enjoying a fantastic view. we ALL ride downhill to Serrano Road. If daylight visibility is reasonable, we will climb up Line Shack Road and return via Serrano Cow Trail. The ride should not take longer than 80minutes, but we will take lots of breaks if needed.
Lights are not mandatory yet, but strongly recommended ! (It’s now dark by 7:15pm)
Please email John Dang (jdang158@gmail.com) or myself for any further questions and to be honest, we would like to know how many people will show up, so a “RSVP” would be nice but not mandatory.
Future planned Rides:
09/30 and 10/7: Get lights, this one definitely will end without daylight!
We always post details for the next ride late Sunday on this website.
Looking forward to this one, because it is a lot of fun and still one of the best mountain bike riding locations.
