To be honest, we had a whole week of discussions, where to have our next and probably for a while last beginner night ride. There are just not a lot of legal trails for night rides, which also suits beginner level. As a conclusion, we decide to go back to black star. We had a great turn out there and everyone was up to the task with a lot of smile on their faces. The following Wednesday 03/17 (THANK YOU Daylight saving !, we plan to ride at Peter’s Canyon ).
Wednesday 03/10: Black Star Canyon (http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=BGS095-031)
When: Roll off 6:00pm after a short introduction to safety rules
Meeting point: Beginning of Black Star Canyon Road, XMAS Tree Farm.
Driving Directions: Take Santiago Canyon Road. Turn into Silverado Canyon Road. Take the first left which is Black Star Canyon Road and immediately park on the left side .
Beginner Rider Course Description:
This is your perfect opportunity to learn riding with lights, which will be mandatory! The first mile will be on paved road and after the gate we will continue on black star canyon road, a fire road and no steep climbing. We are planning to ride for about 60min and depending on the average speed of the group, “Let’s see how far we can go “! Then we will turn around and will carefully descent with a slow pace.
Experienced Rider Course Description:
Yeah, you guys will ride all the way to the top and enjoy the view. We will meet you again on the way down. It should take you about 70min to the top and less than 20min down.
Again, on this ride, LIGHTS are MANDATORY! Also expect temperature to drop into the 40s, when it gets dark.
Please email us if you have any further questions.
As always, looking forward for a great ride and lots of fun!
