We thought after the 1st Over the Hump Race (Tuesday 05/25), to have a little bit an easier ride as a recovery for all our first time race participants.
When: Roll off 6:00pm after a short introduction to safety rules
Meeting point: at the south end of Meadow Ridge Drive, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679
Also known as “at the nursery” (this should be closer for everyone and there is no vehicle parking fee.)
Beginner Rider Course Description: We will start with Live Oak Trail all the way to the top (transformer station or overlook). Then continue on Live Oak to Coyote Canyon Trail and all the way down to the paved road. Then we turn left to Hoffman Homestead Trail, which is a fun single track going up and down parallel to Live Oak Canyon Road. Once we pass Vista Trail it becomes wider but also more uphill. Finally it will lead us back back to Live Oak Trail (Gate) and return to the nursery. This ride has pretty much everything, from uphill switch backs, to fire roads, paved roads and single track. So plenty to practice and exercise and yes, we will take more breaks, since we have now day light for at least 2 Hours.
Experienced Rider Course Description: We start same like Beginner Course but do not turn into Coyote Canyon Trail, we will take Live Oak all the way to the parking lot. Then Pawfoot to Coyote Trail and back uphill to the overlook. While climbing we should somewhere run into the beginner group (going down hill) as well. From the overlook we will take Vista Trail downhill (in our opinion THE signature trail of the park ). Then we turn left on Hoffman Homestead Trail, return to the nursery on the same route like the beginners. But be prepared to enjoy the “high speed highway” down to the nursery
