Hi,
To quote John Cleese from the Monty Python Gang: “ And now something completely different!”
This Wednesday ride, 06/23, we will have more like an adventure ride than a boring dusty fire road ride. To be honest, we even do not know exactly the name of that trail.
For days, we did some research on the internet and ask other riders, but nothing. Last Saturday we checked again the conditions and the signage at the entry. We are 99.9% confident that it is okay to ride there and trust me we take that very serious, because everyone is going to see our team jersey’s. Endless discussions within the group if it is suitable for our Wednesday rides or not! So basically because it is so different of anything we have done before, we are willing to take the risk, that either you are going to love it or you are not going to like it and will turn around after 5 minutes.
When: Roll off 6:00pm after a short introduction to safety rules
Meeting point: in the parking lot at the corner of Marguerite and 5th Avenue in Corona del Mar, CA 92625. You should be able to spot us with our Sho-air/Sonance/Team Velosport Jersey’s.
There will be no difference between Novice Group or Experienced Rider Group. Be prepared for at least 4 water crossings (your shoes are going to be wet), a few “hike a bike” sections and only narrow single trail. Despite all these “obstacles”, we still believe that only “novice rider” skills are required.
We actually will climb 560feet and the trail is “only 2.8miles” long, but during our test ride, it took us 30 minutes one way. So expect the ride to be at least 1½ hour, because we will make stops and ride it in both directions. We also recommend to wear long sleeve jersey’s and long socks.
Again, our focus is on something completely different as a surprise ride and we will definitely listen to your feedback, if we should put it on our regular schedule.
The next planned rides:
06/30Whiting Ranch
07/07Santiago Truck Trail
07/14, 07/21new places and courses!
Please email us if you have any further questions.
And for sure this is going to be a ride, you will not easily forget!
