Hi Everybody!
We got already inquiries regarding our famous season finale for the Wednesday Rides, YEP we will have one and again at Big Bear, on a Saturday shortly before Day Light Savings ends.
This Wednesday, we will back to one of the most popular MTB Venues here in Orange County:
Wednesday 08/11: Whiting Ranch Regional Park (http://www.ocparks.com/uploadgraphics/2008_Whiting_Map.pdf)
When: Roll off 6:00pm after a short introduction to safety rules
Meeting point: 05:45pm in the parking lot in front of the Blockbuster Store at the corner of Bake Parkway and Portola Parkway in Foothill Ranch, CA 92610
Novice Rider Course Description:
We will start all together with the Borrego Trail, Cattle Pond Loop & Mustard (By now most of you are already aware of these trails). What is new? We do not have our usual break at 4 Corners, now we step it up and continue all the way up to Mark Reynold’s Bench. It’s certainly a magnificent view from up there (probably better than last week at Peter’s Canyon). After the well deserved break, we continue downhill on Dreaded Hill Road, a little bit on Serrano Cow Trail and then turn left to ride Line Shack Road. If time permits we will earn some extra credit, by climbing Whiting Road back to 4 Corners and down Cactus. If not, yes, we do the obvious flight through Serrano Cow Trail and Live Oak Trail and back to the parking lot. This route (with the credit) should not take us longer than 90minutes and is not technical difficult nor has long steep climbs, but we do not recommend it for absolute beginners or first timers. Please join us next week, when we have again a special focus on first timers with our beginner clinic.
Experienced Rider Course Description:
As promised, this week our course for the experienced riders is more challenging:
Borrego Trail, Mustard Road (going west !), Vista Lookout Road, then back downhill , Cattle Pond Loop, Mustard (the more traditional direction), Cactus, Sleepy Hallow, Serrano Cow Trail and just when you thought the fun is over, it actually just starts with climbing back to 4 corners on Dreaded Hill Road. After enjoying the view at Mark Reynold’s bench, if time permits we add the so called “Big Cactus Loop” by adding Vulture View Road and Sage Scrub. We will finish this ride, like the novice Gals& Guys with Serrano Cow Trail - Live Oak Trail and back to the parking lot. This is a 12mile loop with approx 2200 ft of some serious climbing.
The next planned rides are:
08/18 Black Star, Novice Riders and special focus on First Timers!
08/25 El Moro, Novice Riders and special focus on Experienced Riders!
09/01 New Location (not confirmed yet) and special focus on First Timers!
Please email us if you have any further questions.
As always, looking forward for a great ride and lots of fun!
