Hi Everybody,
The Wednesday Ride is back, with the same crew and the usual format !
We always get questions via email or during the ride, if our events are strictly for Team Velosport Members. ABSOLUTELY NOT ! Our rides will be always split into 2 groups. One focus is Beginner / Novice Rider Level with clinics and a “Social Pace” or just for those who have not touched a mountain bike for a while and want to get back into this fantastic sport. The other group is for more experienced riders and it will be a different course with faster pace and less stops. We encourage everyone to spread the word and if you have friends, who want to share the fun, please invite them.
When: Wednesday 03/16/11, roll off sharp at 6:00pm,
Where: Peters Canyon Regional Park,
Parking Lot / Entrance at Canyon View Avenue, Orange CA 92869
We suggest to arrive between 5:30pm and 5:45pm. You should be able to spot us with our Sho-air/Sonance/Team Velosport Jersey’s. We will have a short meeting about safety rules. Here is a link to a map of Peters Canyon Regional Park http://www.ocparks.com/uploadgraphics/lbpetersv8.pdf
Peter’s Canyon is a perfect venue for Beginner Clinics, so actually this time, depending on demand we might split into 3 groups:
Beginner Clinic:
If this is your first time on a mountain bike or you have just started, we will show you all the basics, like:
- proper riding gear
- riding position – seat adjustment
- how to shift and break
- climbing and down hill
Please join us, but you MUST wear a Helmet and at a barely minimum gloves.
We will stay in the area around the Upper Canyon water reservoir.
Novice Rider / Social Group:
We start counter clockwise on Lake View Trail (with some extra credit taking cactus point) and some short climbs as a warm up. Then we will attack the famous “Red Hill” or go around it on the Gnatcatcher Trail. We continue on East Ridge Trail all the way to the end and go downhill on a fun single track called Eucalyptus Trail. After that it is all flat fire road on Peter’s canyon trail back to the parking lot. Depending on time and daylight we can add some more extra credits at the end.
Experienced Rider Group:
Reverse Direction than the Novice Riders. This is a tough one, you would think how can it be so much different, but we know from last year, that everyone had to dig deep.
Last but not least, future planned Rides:
03/23 O’Neill Regional Park
03/30 Black Star
We always post details for the next ride on Monday’s or let us know if you would like to get information via email as well.
Looking forward to see everyone
