Hi Everybody,
After last week’s RIDE OF SILENCE on the road, back to the dirt: Blackstar Canyon!
When: 05/23/2012 Roll off 6:00pm after a short introduction to safety rules
Meeting point: 5:45pm beginning of Black Star Canyon Road, XMAS Tree Farm.
Driving Directions: Take Santiago Canyon Road. Turn into Silverado Canyon Road. Take the first left which is Black Star Canyon Road and immediately park on the left side. As always you should be able to spot us with our Team Velosport Jersey’s.
Novice Rider / Social Pace:
The first mile will be on paved road and after the gate we will continue on black star canyon road, a fire road with continuous climbing (but not steep). We are planning to ride all the way up to the gate before turning around. We will certainly have breaks and as always NOBODY is left behind. On the descent, certainly a very slow pace. It gets now dark by 8:00pm the latest and that should be the time, we will be back to the parking lot.
Experienced Rider Group:
Bring your Single Speed of Cycle Cross Bike! (I will certainly bring mine). The route is pretty much the same deal but at a much faster pace and we should be able to make it to the “Giant White Fussball”.
Weather forecast looks good and warm temperatures, but we ride in a canyon and we know Blackstar is always 10 Degrees colder than anywhere else (specially in the evening once the sun disappears ), so you might pack a 2nd layer, or arm warmer just in case …..
