Hi Everybody!
This week we are back to a classic O’Neill Regional Park! This time with a new start location. Here is a link to the map of the park and its main areas: (http://www.ocparks.com/uploadgraphics/ONeill_Map.pdf)
When: Wednesday 06/27/12, roll off sharp at 6:00pm,
Where: El Camino Montana, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688. Let’s park our cars between Primrose and Danta.
We suggest to arrive between 5:30pm and 5:45pm. You should be able to spot us with our Sho-air/Rock N’Road/Team Velosport Jersey’s. We will have a short meeting about safety rules.
Novice Rider / Social Pace Course Description:
We start right away on Live Oak Canyon Trail, pass the river (no water, hahaha) and head to the Main Entrance at Trabuco Canyon Road. This is all flat fire road. Then we will continue parallel to the live oak canyon road all the way up to Monastery Road. This is a mix of dirt and paved road, but nothing technical and simple called O’Neill Park. We continue to climb on Live Oak Canyon Trail to the Transformer Station and then downhill back to the main entrance and to crossing again the riverbed. This route has no technical challenges but there is some climbing involved.
Experienced Rider Course Description:
We start same place like the Novice Rider Course but at the Main Entrance, we will climb Live Oak Trail ( via Pawfoot ) all the way up to the Transformer Station. Then of course we all deserve some fun fly down Vista Trail. At the end we turn left, continue on O’Neill Park and ride up Monastery Road to meet again Live Oak Trail, then back up to the Transformer Station, but this time we go downhill on Live Oak/ Coyote Canyon Trail, maybe extra credit with pawfoot uphill and then back to El Camino Montana. Since this time, the Novice Rider Course is fairly easy we encourage riders to maybe “step up” to a more demanding ride. The overall pace will be still not fast, just less breaks or shorter breaks.
Our next planed rides:
07/04 No official ride
07/11 Ride #100 Whiting Ranch Regional Park, Costume Fest and Tacos at Wahoo’s
As always, looking forward for a great ride and lots of fun!
