WEEKLY MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE FOR BEGINNERS!
John Dang and Matthias Jezek from ROKFORM / Team Velosport organize weekly MTB rides for Beginner to Intermediate Level. These rides are designed to help improve your skills, learn more about the sport, enjoy the local trails, and most important share the fun with other participants! Each week they choose a different location, which helps with diversity and to introduce new trails to people who may just be getting into the sport or are not familiar with all the parks in the Orange County area. Expected ride time is approximately 60-90 Minutes, but this also depends, if riders request short clinics about particular trail sections or riding techniques.
Everyone rides at their own comfortable pace and we will always have trained control riders, so no one gets left behind. There is also always a short introduction to safety rules !
Exact routes, meeting time, and future rides will be posted every Monday morning at www.teamvelosport.com (Team Blog and photos) or www.rocknroadcyclery.net (News and Blog)
For further detailed information, please contact John Dang (jdang158@gmail.com) and/or Matthias Jezek(matthias.jezek@mac.com).
Local Rides
Rock 'n Road Shop Ride - Sunday - ROAD
Departs from the Rock 'n Road Mission Viejo Parking Lot at 7:45AM. Ride heads out Irvine Blvd to Jamboree, climbing to the top of Dump where it regroups and heads through Santiago Canyon. Some split off and head for coffee after climbing Cook's while others add Live Oak to finish the ride and get extra mileage. Group size varies from 15-40. Pace is not for the light hearted and there is plenty of climbing on the route. Very individual ride.

Santiago Canyon Ride - Thursday - ROAD
Thursday night is a fast road ride thru Santiago canyon. We leave at 5:00PM sharp when light allows (Summer months). Warm up together to the top of Modjeska and then it's on, with 'King of the Hill' at the top of dump and at the top of Bake. This ride is basically the Sunday shop ride but backwards. Typically 4 - 12 riders.

Pace picks up in two or three spots and there is a regroup at the top of Newport Coast at the park before heading back.
Food Park - Saturday - ROAD
Departs from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at Harvard and Main in Irvine at 8:30AM. Moderately paced there are two basic routes: one turns at Tesla to add a bit more climbing while the other heads straight to Church Hill. No mercy, no regroups on this ride so get in and hang on. Good bike handling skills important or you'll get an earful. Group size 30-100.

The VeloSport road team has representatives in all of the SoCal races and is feared by the local competition due to our tactics and organization (having some of the fastest guys around doesn't hurt either). The road team has something for everybody experienced racers, juniors, a women's team that is sweeping events and those fresh to the sport who are just now trying their hand at racing. Anyone is welcome to come out to the local training rides and learn more about the team!
